For those not on the email list I will leave a form on the table on club nights for you to register an interest. Details of the fixtures are as follows:-

Tina | Rye Series 5k - Friday 13 August 2010Updated: 15-Aug-2010 18:39 Five club members took part in Friday's Rye Series 5k at the very scenic Rye Harbour. The course is fast and flat as long as the South Westerly's do not blow hard which is usually the case! Unusually, the wind wasn't too much of a problem but heavy showers did fall on those not fortunate to finish at the front. The event always attracts a good quality field and Friday's race was no exception, with several age group records being broken. Sam, lead the club runners home in a fine 5th place, followed by Kylie who was the 2nd placed lady overall. Kylie, together with Faye and myself picked up the ladies team prize by virtue of having the fastest overall time in the race. The conditions, although overcast, were still quite humid which made the taxing course even more difficult to tackle. This did not prevent Sam Rigby from finishing in a fine 3rd place in a PB time of 33.30. Del Matcham and Dave Weekes also had good runs finishing in 8th and 10th place respectively in times of 36.08 and 36.40. Dave was 3rd Vet 40. Well it’s over for this year and the Interclub Relay Series has proved to be another success for the club. Both Mens and Ladies Senior Teams won the their respective age groups yet again and the Ladies Vet 45 team picked up 2nd place in their category and the Ladies Vet 35s have either finished 2nd or 3rd in their age group (these results are subject to clarification). There were some great performances all round by all who took part in the races and many improved times this year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Team Captains, Dave Weekes, Nikki Smyth, Karen Puttock, Club Coach, Faye Faiers and everyone who turned out to compete in all of our teams entered. Work and family commitments can make it difficult to travel to some of the venues in time for the races so it was great to see so many turn up to compete. It was particularly nice to see Rona back racing after a long layoff due to injury and her infectious enthusiasm remains undimmed!
Having just come back of holiday, I’m just catching up with the race results. Many club members were racing in the heat over the last couple of weeks.
On the track, both Helen and Dave Weeks have been competing with Helen winning her 1500 metres event at the Southern Counties Vets League Kent Div 2 fixture on 14 June in a time of 5.16.9 and on 26 June at the Southern Womens League, 3,000 metres in 10.53.3. Dave took part in the KCAA Track and Field Championships on a particularly hot evening on 23 June at Dartford. Despite the heat Dave won a Bronze medal in the Vet 40 event finishing his 10,000 metres in 36.42.
Dave also took part in the Weald of Kent 10 mile race on yet another hot day on 27 June, finishing in a time of 1.06.57. The first club runner to finish was Del, 8th place overall in a time of 1.00.34. Stephen finished in 1.36.17 and Alison Jelly, 1.36.45.
Faye, Alyson Ross and Grahame took part in the 2nd Fowlmead series 5k race with Faye and Alyson winning their age groups and Faye finishing 2nd lady overall. And finally, Faye took part in the Pod Plus Lakes 5k last Sunday representing her works team in the event and helping them to win first place in the Corporate Team Event. I will be updating my photo site in the next few days with various photos that have been taken by Dave Weekes and myself from these events. Well done to everyone Tina.
