Hythe Round the Houses/Congratulations/Tuesday's RelayUpdated: 11-May-2008 17:43 Hythe Round the Houses
Thanks to everyone who took who helped and took part in this year's Hythe Round the Houses Race. Grahame and I excused ourselves from this years race as we had to run 18 miles today. With hindsight I think that I would have preferred a 6k race. I just hope that it is a bit cooler in Edinburgh in two weeks!
Congratulations
A big congratulations to Sam and Jessica on the birth of their son George, 4Ib 15oz. There is obviously something about being in the Fire service at the moment! Congratulations also to Granddad Granville ( just because you're a Granddad Granville doesn't mean that you have an excuse for running slower!!.)Best Wishes to all the family.
Tuesday's Relay
Just a reminder that we will be meeting at the Rotunda Car Park on Tuesday at 18.30, not at the club, although we may pop back there afterwards for a drink.
Tina | Who's the Daddy!!Updated: 20-Apr-2008 18:21 Well Del is actually! Congratulations to Derek and Wendy on the birth of their son Harrison John Matchan, 6lb 8oz. I'm sure that you will join me in wishing them all the best. Tina | London Marathon 2008Updated: 13-Apr-2008 18:25 A big well done to all of our London Marathon runners today. Conditions although wet were ideal for marathon running unlike last year's heat which took it's toll on the runners. As a result, some fine times were posted by our runners and PB's achieved. First amongst these was Dave Weekes,in a fine 2.54.55, followed by a great maiden run by Kevin Smyth in 3.17.09.Sister Nikki smashed her PB by nearly 25 minutes in a time of 3.36.38.Steve Fowler followed in 3.38.52; Dave Walbrook in 3.39.55;Ray Johnson, 3.42.50;Altan Ali, 3.45.54; Ian Bull, 4.10.37;Sarah Reardon, 4.15.04;Roland Evans, 4.41.27;Alan Figgins, 4.49.59 and Nikki Webster a great start to her running career in 5.21.20.You may have noticed that I have missed out a certain Clive Allon, always trying to upstage everyone and get on the tele, he proposed to Pam at the Cutty Sark which might have explained his time of 4.40.41 (and he wasn't even wearing club kit!)I would like to extend my congratulations to Clive and Pam along with several million TV viewers!!And to all of our club runners out there today who did the club proud. Oh well, roll on Edinburgh.....Tina | Marathon Des Sables and Paris Marathon updatesUpdated: 06-Apr-2008 19:18 Well done to Pete Satchell who has successfully completed the Marathon Des Sables covering the gruelling 243.3km route over six days in 43h 23min and 39 seconds. Pete was in 361 place in a starting field of 800, at least 300 of these did not complete the course. In slightly more temperate conditions, Jeff Hicks completed the Paris Marathon today in 4.22.55, although his Garmin recorded 4.16.20! Jeff suffered a cracked rib around three weeks ago and has barely run since but his determination kept him going. Although their efforts cannot be directly compared it is a credit to them both and the club is very proud of them.Congratulations!
