Dinosaur 10k - Sunday 25 July 2010Updated: 25-Jul-2010 23:23 Congratulations to the eleven club runners who took part in todays Dinosaur 10k. The conditions, although overcast, were still quite humid which made the taxing course even more difficult to tackle. This did not prevent Sam Rigby from finishing in a fine 3rd place in a PB time of 33.30. Del Matcham and Dave Weekes also had good runs finishing in 8th and 10th place respectively in times of 36.08 and 36.40. Dave was 3rd Vet 40. Kylie led the Folkestone ladies home, 5th placed lady, in a strong time of 41.55, despite earlier in the week suffering from injury. Kylie was followed by Karen, 6th lady home, another good run in a time of 41.55. Karen was 2nd Vet 35. The remaining Folkestone times were; Ian Bull, 45.40; Susan Mitchell,46.53;Ian Bubb, 46.58, Jim (Pebbles) Roberts, 50.18; Lynne, 53.51 and Angela, 1.00.59. Well done everyone.Tina | Results update up to Sunday 18 July 2010Updated: 19-Jul-2010 21:15 Just a quick round up of recent race results. Well done to Stephen King, who completed Saturday's Harbour Wallbanger race on the beach at Broadstairs. Stephen finished the challenging 7K course in a time of 40.02. Helen continued her participation in track competition recently with a great 2nd place in her age category at the BMAF Track and Field Championships at Cardiff, completing the 5000 metres in a time of 19.07.22. And finally, Ian Bull and Alison Jelly took part in the North Downs 30k event in June finishing in a time of 3.06.24 and 3.14.14 respectively. Well done to everyone. | Results round upUpdated: 12-Jul-2010 20:51 Congratulations to our club runners who were out competing in the heat this weekend. A special mention should go to Linda Smith and Catherine O'Connor who did particulary well at yesterday's Baa Baa 10K held in Lydd organised by the Rotary club. Linda celebrated the end of her birthday week by winning the ladies race in a time of 54.13 and picking up a cheque for £50! Catherine also had a good race finishing 4th lady in a time of 54.30. Sam was also out racing this weekend at the Cliffe Woods 10K, where he finished in 3rd place in a time of 35.25. Well done to everyone for their efforts this weekend in particularly tough conditions.
Photos from recent race events taken by Dave Weekes and myself have now been uploaded to my photosite. Tina | Interclub Relay Series/ Results RoundupUpdated: 11-Jul-2010 13:35 Interclub Relay Series/ Results Roundup
Well it’s over for this year and the Interclub Relay Series has proved to be another success for the club. Both Mens and Ladies Senior Teams won the their respective age groups yet again and the Ladies Vet 45 team picked up 2nd place in their category and the Ladies Vet 35s have either finished 2nd or 3rd in their age group (these results are subject to clarification). There were some great performances all round by all who took part in the races and many improved times this year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank the Team Captains, Dave Weekes, Nikki Smyth, Karen Puttock, Club Coach, Faye Faiers and everyone who turned out to compete in all of our teams entered. Work and family commitments can make it difficult to travel to some of the venues in time for the races so it was great to see so many turn up to compete. It was particularly nice to see Rona back racing after a long layoff due to injury and her infectious enthusiasm remains undimmed!
Having just come back of holiday, I’m just catching up with the race results. Many club members were racing in the heat over the last couple of weeks.
On the track, both Helen and Dave Weeks have been competing with Helen winning her 1500 metres event at the Southern Counties Vets League Kent Div 2 fixture on 14 June in a time of 5.16.9 and on 26 June at the Southern Womens League, 3,000 metres in 10.53.3. Dave took part in the KCAA Track and Field Championships on a particularly hot evening on 23 June at Dartford. Despite the heat Dave won a Bronze medal in the Vet 40 event finishing his 10,000 metres in 36.42.
Dave also took part in the Weald of Kent 10 mile race on yet another hot day on 27 June, finishing in a time of 1.06.57. The first club runner to finish was Del, 8th place overall in a time of 1.00.34. Stephen finished in 1.36.17 and Alison Jelly, 1.36.45.
Faye, Alyson Ross and Grahame took part in the 2nd Fowlmead series 5k race with Faye and Alyson winning their age groups and Faye finishing 2nd lady overall. And finally, Faye took part in the Pod Plus Lakes 5k last Sunday representing her works team in the event and helping them to win first place in the Corporate Team Event. I will be updating my photo site in the next few days with various photos that have been taken by Dave Weekes and myself from these events. Well done to everyone Tina.
